Melissa, a 9-year-old girl, is diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and a few days later, she meets Squeeky, a laboratory mouse that is part of a scientific study that seeks to find a cure for this disease, through the genetic manipulation of the body’s own stem cells, so that the pancreatic islets are formed again and return to produce insulin again. The results of this study should be presented at the World Diabetes Congress, so Squeeky will have to return to Dr. Edward Montgomery’s scientific research center, at all costs, so that he can fulfill his mission.
